On this weeks addition of popular variety show Britain's Got Talent Comedian Nabil is awarded the last of the golden buzzers
A Comedian from Croydon who appeared on BGT this Saturday was given a golden buzzer by Alesha Dixon, meaning he has gone straight through to the live shows. Every year judges Simon Cowell, David Walliams, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon as well as hosts Ant and Dec are given the chance to put through one act each directly to the live portion of the talent competition. Nabil now joins fellow contestants Fayth Ifil, Jon Courtenay, Sign Along With Us and Honey and Sammy as the acts to automatically secure a place in the semi-finals.
Singer and Television personality Alesha admitted that she wasn't expecting to press her buzzer on that day of auditions but simply couldn't resist after seeing Nabil's performance. She branded him "a breath of fresh air" as well as praising his charisma and edginess. Fellow judge and comedian David Walliams also gave him the seal of approval, commenting that his writing and delivery was "perfect."
Both the audience and judges were in hysterics throughout the entirety of his audition as he delivered a stand up routine to remember, joking about being a Muslim, his name and life in South London. In his audition tape he revealed that in the lead up to his ITV debut he had been performing anywhere he could, including schools and barber shops and was stunned after Alesha chose him to send through to the live shows.
Nabil also commented prior to his performance that hoped to get four yeses and make his wife and two daughters proud and it seems he did just that and more.
Unfortunately, due to current circumstances regarding the Coronavirus this years live shows have had to be postponed but bosses remain hopeful they will be able to film at a later date.
The auditions were filmed prior to the COVID-19 outbreak and have luckily been able to air, although it seems some viewers are somewhat unimpressed with the standard of acts this year. One person labelling the contestants "rubbish" and stated that she usually loves the programme but was left disappointed and even expressed her distaste towards golden buzzer act Nabil.
Nevertheless, we are in full support of our fellow Croydon resident Nabil and are happy to see one of the many talents that come out of our South London borough showcased on a national platform. Watch Nabil's Golden Buzzer moment here
