Daddy Cranx Receives The First Ever CFM Award

Updated: Jun 22, 2021

Earlier this week Croydon FM honoured Daddy Cranx with the very first Croydon FM award in completing two years of service and dedication. In the light of this, I took the time to catch up with the man himself to talk about his experience in being a Presenter at Croydon's first official community-led radio service for the past two years.

How does it feel to be the first member to receive a Croydon FM Award for reaching 2 years of service?

"I feel honoured and very grateful. It may seem like a small thing but it’s nice to be appreciated. I’m sure not many stations offer such a gesture. Goes to show the station has great management and is really about building a solid team within the community."

What made you want to join Croydon FM?

"Croydon FM was something I wanted to be a part of, as soon as Clive (Mister C) told me his idea about creating it.

I saw its potential and wanted to help create his vision. At the same time, I was thinking about getting back into DJ’ing and this was divine timing."

What is your favourite thing about Croydon FM?

"I love the fact that it’s literally the community coming together to make something that we all align with, work. Being able to give young people the opportunity to learn a skill set that they wouldn’t normally have access to is commendable."

Whats the biggest difference you’ve noticed about the station since joining 2 years ago?

"At the beginning there was a lot of skepticism around the station. But I think given our progression over the last two years Croydon FM is now recognised as a reputable platform.

I cannot wait for it to finally be on the FM airwaves."

Has being on Croydon FM opened any doors or allowed you to connect with people you wouldn’t have if it weren’t for your show?

"I found people are definitely more opened to working with you in regards to events and that alike. The music industry is very competitive and can be hard to stand out amongst the crowd. Being on a station such as Croydon FM can give you leverage with a perception of professionalism. Especially when being on the the station as long as I have - which takes a certain amount of dedication."

How has your show evolved over the last 2 years?

"When listening back to my earlier shows it definitely sounds more amature-ish in ways of my presenting. I have a long way to go before I’m at where I would like to be but I’m definitely more confident when mixing, speaking & interacting with the listeners.

My ambition is to the have the number 1 House music radio show in London so that’s what I’m working towards. ;) "

Congratulations Daddy Cranx!

You can catch his show 'Man Of The House' live every Thursday 19:00-21:00 (GMT) where he will be playing the finest house sounds from around the world - house heads this is the show for you.
