Drake and Headie One Collaborate On Brand New Freestyle

Updated: Jun 22, 2021

After just releasing two brand new singles with DJ Khaled last Friday, Drake is back with even more music, this time collaborating with the UK's own Headie One on a freestyle entitled 'Only One Freestyle.'

The track was produced by M1 On The Beat and is another example of Drake taking at swing at UK drill. The Canadian rap phenomenon has always said to be a huge supporter of UK music and tracks such as 'War' and 'Demons' from the past year have shown him to be well equipped in terms of creating drill music, with Headie One said to be one of Drakes biggest influences in his exploration into the genre. Drake even labelled Headie One "the best drill artist in the world" when explaining why he "had to go hard" on the track.

Overall the freestyle seems to be getting a good reaction from the public so far, however one particular detail that's hit the headlines is Drakes reference to British television presenter Maya Jama.

"Chubbs might jam this cute for a chain. And gave it to a sweet one, called that Maya Jama.”

Fans quickly rushed to social media seeking a response from Jama's ex boyfriend Stormzy as many suspect Stormzy and Drake may know each other through the Rap circuit. Although, it is still unconfirmed as to whether Drake and Maya know each other on a personal level suggesting this could be the start of a budding romance or whether it was simply a meaningless lyric. Both Maya and Stormzy are yet to comment.

As UK Drill continues to increase in popularity and finally gain attention from overseas this collaboration between the pair seems to have come at just the right time and leaves many hopeful that this could be the breakthrough that was needed for it to get the recognition it deserves in the U.S.
