Nines Earns His First UK Number 1 With His Brand New Album 'Crabs In A Bucket'

Updated: Jun 22, 2021

Nines has landed his first number 1 on the Official UK Album Charts for his third studio album.

In an extremely close chart race 'Crabs In A Bucket' was the most streamed and downloaded album of last week, beating out the likes of Katy Perry and Metallica for the top spot. According to The Official Charts Company he won by fewer than 2,000 copies but nonetheless managed to overtake some of the biggest names in the business and bag his first number 1.

'Crabs In A Bucket' is Nines' third studio album but his first on a major label, making his win even sweeter. The title refers to the difficulties of leaving his past behind and the album as a whole reflects on his journey to success - From growing up on a Council estate to gaining national recognition for his music.

The North-West Londoner has never shied away from his background and has previously mentioned how he wants to "take the hood with [him] and help everyone out." He aims to regenerate the local community he grew up in and plans to improve the Church End & Roundwood Unity Centre, with proposals such as converting the concrete pitches to astroturf as he says "We’re probably the only estate left in London with a concrete pitch." He also expressed his interest in putting on a string of career workshops about the entertainment industry, from music law to scriptwriting.

The Rapper and Songwriter uploaded a video to Instagram to celebrate his success, saying "I still can't believe I'm number 1" as well as giving thanks to those that got him in this position. In the video he posed with his Official Chart award outside the estate he grew up in, reflecting on just how far he has come.
