In her latest cover of British Vogue, the singer, songwriter, actress and businesswomen discussed relationships, Fenty Beauty, her upcoming album and what the 'Black is beautiful' movement means to her and her brand.
The stunning cover photo of the vogue spread sparking conversation in the best possible way, as RiRi becomes the first person ever to wear a durag on the magazine's cover. The photo also stands out due to the bold face tattoo across her eyes imprinted 'truth.' The meaning behind the bold makeup according to Isamaya Ffrench (the artist behind the look) was to "express a philosophy or belief in the most direct way" and when her and Rihanna were searching for a word that was "an important sentiment for the upcoming year" they both felt it held great relevance.
But, of course, the look was created with makeup instead of Rihanna making the decision to get anything permanent tattooed onto her face. Although, she wouldn't be the first celeb to make the bold move with the likes of Chris Brown, Halsey, Kehlani, Post Malone, Amber Rose, Justin Bieber and many more all sporting the increasingly popular look.
Having said that, the look wasn't the only thing that had people talking. What seemed to shock people the most was the fact that she claimed that her 10 year plan includes having 3 or 4 children with or without a partner. This sparked controversy amongst fans and lead to a twitter debate about whether the star was selfish to want to raise children as a single mother. Although, Rihanna seemed unbothered as she says that she feels society wants to diminish you as a mother if there’s not a dad in your kids’ lives. She also expressed her belief that "the only thing that matters is happiness, that’s the only healthy relationship between a parent and a child. That’s the only thing that can raise a child truly, is love."
In the interview she also spoke of her highly anticipated upcoming studio album. She stated that she is still unsure of the precise date of when its going to drop but that she is working hard to make sure its a masterpiece and that it "doesn't sound like themes." Rumours of the new album being reggae inspired have circulated for some time now and Rihanna seemed to confirm this by commenting on how she feels she has done everything and tried every genre and now feels she is limitless and can make any style she wants.
