RTS Awards 2021: The Big Winners From Yesterday's Virtual Ceremony

Last night the 2021 Royal Television Society Awards took place. The virtual ceremony streamed live on the RTS website, hosted by Jonathan Ross, was a huge success and saw the likes of Michaela Coel, Mo Gilligan, Big Narstie and more take home RTS awards.

Michaela Coel was one of the biggest winners of the night, receiving a total of three awards for her work on her hit drama series 'I May Destroy You.' The mini-series deservingly won Coel herself prizes for Best Female Actor and Best Drama Writer, as well as the series itself taking home the title of Best Mini-Series.

Throughout the course of the ceremony Coel delivered three powerful acceptance speeches. Take in each of Michaela Coel's important and emotive acceptance speeches below.

Last nights celebrations also saw lunchtime talk show Loose Women pick up the award for Best Daytime Programme as a result of the show's first all-Black panel special which aired in October last year during Black History Month. The episode received an overwhelmingly positive response from viewers, who were pleased to see the panel consist of four Black women together for the first time in the show's history.

When accepting the award panelist Charlene White spoke on behalf of the 'loose ladies' to thank their team, but in a touching address also encouraged that "when you nurture, when you grow and when you trust your diversity talent anything is possible."

Another notable winner from last nights award show was Yinka Bokinni who was awarded the History prize for her documentary 'Damilola: The Boy Next Door.' Yesterday marked a full day of celebrations for the TV and radio Presenter, who also won the Debut Presenter Award at the New Voice Awards.

Big Narstie and Mo Gilligan also received prizes at yesterdays ceremony, winning the award for Best Entertainment Performance for their talk show, 'The Big Narstie Show.' And in true Big Narstie style, a hysterical, technical mishap occurred which meant Mo had to FaceTime Narstie mid-way through the pairs acceptance speech so that he too could give his thanks for the award.
