Mini television series' 'Small Axe' and 'I May Destroy You' lead the list of nominations at the upcoming Royal Television Society Awards.
The Royal Television Society have officially released their shortlist of nominations for the upcoming 2021 RTS Awards. This years ceremony will be live-streamed on the Royal Television Society website on the 16th of March and will be hosted by Johnathon Ross.
When discussing this years nominations chair of the Awards, Kenton Allen, said, "The standard of entries has been outstanding and demonstrated the breadth of high-quality content that has informed, entertained and kept audiences going through what has been such a uniquely difficult time."
Leading this years nominations are mini-series' 'Small Axe' and 'I May Destroy You', with both receiving three different nominations across the award categories.
'Small Axe', Sir Steven Rodney McQueen's powerful five-part anthology film series is nominated for Best Mini-Series as well as McQueen himself, alongside Alastair Siddons nominated for Best Drama Writer and one of the stars of the series Shaun Parks receiving a nomination for Best (Male) Actor. Michaela Coel's thought-provoking drama 'I May Destroy You' also being nominated for Best Mini-Series as well as Coel herself receiving nominations for Best (Female) Actor and Best Drama Writer for her work on the series. This follows on from the outage that occurred as a result of I May Destroy You's lack of recognition at the recent Golden Globes.
Other nominations include the likes of Capital Xtra's Yinka Bokinni who has been nominated for Best Presenter for her touching documentary 'Damilola: The Boy Next Door.' Read more about the documentary here on the CFM blog.
