The latest phenomenon that is 'Singles Day' and how you can make the most of the celebrations!

Updated: Jun 22, 2021

What is Singles Day? Singles day is a day dedicated to celebrating those who are not in relationships. It has also become one of the largest shopping days in the world and every year sees a wealth of retailers discount their products and put on big sales in light of it.

It's safe to say 2020 has been a tough year so far and with the UK being plummeted into yet another lockdown what better excuse is there to indulge yourself in some self care and retail therapy.

Singles Day is a fairly new phenomenon in the UK but it's slowly increasing in popularity and is set to rival the likes of Black Friday as one of the biggest shopping events of the year. It began as an 'anti valentines day celebration' for single people in China but it has since evolved and become a popular worldwide wide calendar event which gives not only singles but everyone a chance to snag themselves some bargains.

The day dedicated to celebrating the single life falls on the 11th November every year, the date holding great significance as it features the repeated number 1 which is meant to symbolise single living. The heavily discounted items and the shopping side to the day is also very symbolic as the intention behind it is that you go out and buy yourself a gift as opposed to buying something for someone else like you would if you had a partner on valentines day.

As each year goes by more and more businesses have joined in on the action and with the UK not wanting to be left behind on the trend many businesses have joined in with the celebrations and have made huge reductions on their products.

Singles Day 2020 is set to be the biggest one yet and there is still time get your hands on some discounts before it all ends. Some popular brands that are taking part include the likes of ASOS, Boohoo, Ann Summers, Lovehoney, Nails Inc, Bare Minerals, Lancôme and many more! So go on, what are you waiting for? It's the perfect excuse to treat yourself to something to get you through lockdown 2.0.

Happy Singles Day everyone! Will you be doing someone online shopping today to celebrate?
