The popular UK festival held annually in Finsbury Park has had no choice but to cancel this years event due to COVID-19.
The London festival was set to take place from the 3rd-5th of July at Finsbury Park but it has been officially announced that it will no longer be going ahead. The lineup was jam packed with some of the hottest artists from around the world, with Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky and Skepta set to headline. Other artists included the UKs own D-Block Europe, AJ Tracey and Aitch as well as some the US' finest with the likes of Roddy Rich, DaBaby and Lil Uzi Vert also filling the bill.
Festival organisers released a statement yesterday that reads "As you know we've been closely monitoring this unprecedented situation, and it's become clear the cancelling is unavoidable." They also gave their thanks for the support and said that their hearts go out to the artists and fans who were looking forward to the event. Although, they remained hopeful, commenting that they plan to return next year as usual with the proposed dates of the 2-4th of July and promised that it would be worth the wait.
Have you bought tickets and are unsure what will happen now that Wireless Festival is cancelled? Well, there's no need to worry. Organisers have said that they are "working closely with ticketing partners" to issue out customer refunds. They have also provided the alternative for customers to keep hold of their tickets and carry them over to 2021. Although, be mindful that it will still be for the same days you bought the tickets for this year despite next years lineup being subject to change. Many will also have received an email with a link to a questionnaire that asks you what your preferred option is (Refund or keeping your tickets for 2021) so make sure to check your junk mail but also bare in mind that ticket providers differ and some may not have got around to it yet.
However, not all is lost as there have been hints that there is potential that fans will be able to access some performances digitally as they write on their social media "more news on wireless, the virtual edition, coming soon."
With the news of Wireless and a range of other UK festivals such as Glastonbury and Isle of Wight being cancelled if you an avid festival goer it is easy to feel blue but try to stay positive. Maybe try having your own festival straight from your home - create a playlist with all the artists you were looking forward to see, slap on some glitter and dance away!
