Prince Harry has announced his new job at life coaching and mental health support company BetterUp as the Chief Impact Officer.
The Duke of Sussex has shared his excitement to take on the role as Chief Impact Officer at a the Silicon Valley firm BetterUp, revealing that his objective is to "lift up critical dialogues around mental health, build supportive and compassionate communities and foster an environment for honest and vulnerable conversations". Upon taking up his new job he also shared his belief that "focusing on and prioritising our mental fitness unlocks potential and opportunity that we never knew we had inside of us."
Chief Executive of the San Francisco based Mental Health and Life Coaching company Alexi Robichaux, expressed that he believes Harry is the perfect person for the role, labelling him as "filled with energy and enthusiasm” and complimenting his "incredible attitude." Robichaux has also revealed that Harry has "been in the role for a couple of months" and that "the most impressive thing has been his focus singularly on how can he be of service, how can he advance his vision and his mission and how can we make a positive impact on the world together.”
BetterUp was founded back in 2013 and provides proffesional mobile-based coaching, counselling and mentorship. The companies mission statement is to "unlock greater potential, purpose and passion" and states that their services will assist people in living more "meaningful" and "vibrant" lives.
Details regarding the princes' salary and working hours as part of his new role have been kept private but it has been revealed that his main responsibilities will include speaking publicly about various topics in relation to mental health and well-being, charitable contributions and product strategy decisions.
The news of Harry's new job title seems to have been met with a positive response across social media so far, as people congratulate him for landing his new year after a challenging year since deciding to leave the Royal family. One fan even labelled him "America's honorary Prince."
On top of the news of his new role at BetterUp it's also just been revealed that Harry has joined a US initiative to tackle fake news, set up by the Aspen Institute Thinktank. In a statement discussing his membership on the commission he said “The experience of today’s digital world has inundated us with an avalanche of misinformation, affecting our ability as individuals as well as societies to think clearly and truly understand the world we live in.” He also added “It is my belief that this is a humanitarian issue and as such, it demands a multi-stakeholder response from advocacy groups, members of the media, academic researchers, and both government and civil society leaders.”
