“I’m fully gassed that Croydon FM is about to Launch. Growing up in the area, I know how much talent Croydon cultivates. So knowing that the station is going to be representing all of that diversity, talent and Music is really exciting” - Rickie Haywood-Williams (Kiss FM/ BBC Radio 1)

Based in the heart of Croydon, Croydon FM is the community radio station taking the area by storm.

Set up by local resident Clive Campbell, the station launched in 2018 as an online only service, Croydon FM entered the media world with a bang; taking on community projects, providing opportunities in employment, youth training and supporting local events. With 44 members (and counting), Croydon FM is fast becoming a staple in the radio community.

Cheryl Fergus-Ferrell celebrates Clive Campbell as her 'Inspirational Croydonian of the Week' on 'Croydon Connects' (Wednesday's 10:00-12:00 on Croydon FM)

Croydon FM actively promotes supporting the local youth and makes a conscious effort to bring young people into the studio to teach them the ropes of radio production and broadcasting - getting them involved with the likes of Boxpark Croydon, The Ends Festival and many more activities.

This earned Croydon FM the renowned Business In The Community award at the Mayor of Croydon Civic Awards as well as being honoured by GRM Daily as part of their Give Daily campaign in 2020.

In March 2019 Croydon FM took the step of applying for an FM Community licence and despite the events of 2020, have continued to deliver shows remotely - keeping the community connected by tackling isolation and loneliness.

In May 2020 Croydon FM was awarded an elusive FM Community Radio Licence by Ofcom, it is one of only six community radio stations to gain FM status within this round. Moreover, in a recent update, Ofcom declared “This will be the last round of community radio licensing on FM or AM for the foreseeable future.”

According to Ofcom, Croydon FM will serve the culturally and ethnically diverse community of Croydon and surrounding areas. It will provide a platform for local music talent as well as taking part in community outreach.
